Picking seasonal fruits is a really fun and educational way to spend some creative and rewarding time with the kids. It is great to have the kids make a chart and draw pictures of what fruits and veggies can be picked when. There are lots of local farms all around our area with "pick your own" opportunities. It is also a good time to introduce some agricultural aspects to your kids, where, when, how and why things grow. What I really love about these activities is that it promotes a healthy lifestyle as well as good choices for the kids to make. We unfortunetly didn't have the opportunity to pick strawberries with the kids this year. We did get a chance to have a strawberry lunch party!
We made felt strawberries to place around the table. We served Hot Dogs and chips for the kids. We also had a Strawberry Shortcake for dessert.
